  • MA YINCHU

    Born in Shengxian Zhejiang Ma Yinchu was an economist educator and member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He taught at Peking University from 1916 to 1927 serving as a professor department head and provost. He was the President of Peking University from June 1951 to March 1960 and was appointed Honorary President in 1979.

  • TAO LVGONG

    Born in Shaoxing Zhejiang Tao Lügong was a sociologist. From 1914 to 1927 he served as a professor department head Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Provost at Peking University.

  • GU MENGYU

    Born in Shangyu Zhejiang Gu Mengyu originally named Gu Zhaoxiong was a politician. From 1917 to 1925 he served as a professor and Head of German Courses and later as Head of the Department of Economics and Provost at Peking University.

  • HU SHI

    Born in Jixi Anhui Hu Shi (courtesy name Shizhi) was an educator and scholar. He held various positions at Peking University including professor Head of Philosophical Courses Head of the Department of English Language Provost and Head of the School of Liberal Arts. He was the President of Peking University from September 1945 to December 1948.

  • JIANG MENGLIN

    Born in Yuyao Zhejiang Jiang Menglin originally named Jiang Mengxiong and also known by his courtesy name Zhaoxian and art name Menglin was an educator. He served as a professor Chief Administrator and Acting President at Peking University. From December 1930 to September 1945 he was the President of Peking University and a member of the Standing Committee of the National Southwestern Associated University.

  • XU BINGCHANG

    Born in Tanghe Henan Xu Bingchang (courtesy name Xusheng) was a historian and politician. He served as Provost of Peking University in 1926 and Head of the Second Normal College of Peking University in 1929.

  • CHEN DAQI

    Born in Haiyan Zhejiang Chen Daqi (courtesy name Bainian) was a psychologist. He served as a professor at the Department of Psychology in 1914 Head of the Department of Philosophy in 1922 and Provost of Peking University in 1927.

  • HE JIHONG

    Born in Gaocheng Hebei He Jihong (courtesy name Haiqiu) held various positions at Peking University including professor and Head of the Department of Law Provost Head of the School of Social Sciences and Head of the Department of Political Science. He also taught in the Departments of Political Science and Law at Tsinghua University Law School and was an honorary professor at the Law and Business School of Beiping University.

  • ZHENG HUACHI

    Born in Zhongshan Guangdong Zheng Huachi was a spectroscopist and physics educator. He served as a professor in the Department of Physics at Peking University in 1936 and as Provost of Peking University in 1946.

  • ZENG ZHAOLUN

    Born in Xiangxiang Hunan Zeng Zhaolun was a chemist and educator. He served as a professor in the Department of Chemistry at Peking University from 1931 to 1937 and as Provost of Peking University from 1950 to 1951.

  • ZHANG JINGYUE

    Zhang Jingyue was a plant morphologist and educator. He served as a professor and Head of the Department of Biology at Peking University in 1932 and as Provost of Peking University in 1951.

  • ZHOU PEIYUAN

    Born in Yixing Jiangsu Zhou Peiyuan was a fluid dynamicist theoretical physicist and educator. He served as Provost Vice President and President of Peking University.

  • WANG XUEZHEN

    Born in Longyou Zhejiang Wang Xuezhen successively served as Secretary of the Academic Affairs Office Head of the Academic Affairs Office Vice Provost Vice President and Provost of Peking University as well as Head of the CPC Peking University Committee Organization Department and Party Chief of Peking University.

  • WANG YONGQUAN

    Born in Duandian Town Echeng County Hubei Wang Yongquan was a physicist. He held various positions at Peking University including Head of the General Physics Teaching and Research Section of the Department of Physics Head of the Department of Radio Electronics Head of the Audio-Visual Education Center Provost Head of the Graduate School and PhD advisor.

  • WANG YIQIU

    Born in Ningbo Zhejiang Wang Yiqiu is a physicist who serves as a professor and PhD advisor at Peking University. Previously he held positions including Head of the Teaching and Research Section deputy department head and Executive Vice President of Peking University.

  • LIN JIANHUA

    Born in Gaomi Shandong Lin Jianhua is a chemist. He started teaching at Peking University in 1986 and later held various positions including professor dean Provost Vice President and Executive Vice President of Peking University. Additionally he served as President of Chongqing University from December 2010 to June 2013 President of Zhejiang University from June 2013 to February 2015 and President of Peking University from February 2015 to October 2018.

  • WANG ENGE

    Born in Shenyang Liaoning Wang Enge is a physicist a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a fellow of the World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries. From March 2013 to February 2015 he served as President of Peking University.

  • GAO SONG

    Born in Sixian Anhui Gao Song is an inorganic chemist a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a fellow of the World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries. He serves as a professor at the College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering Peking University. Previously he held various positions at the college including Deputy Party Secretary vice dean dean and Head of the Academic Committee. He also worked as Provost and Vice President of Peking University and Head of the Graduate School. In 2018 he became a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Peking University Committee and Executive Vice President of Peking University.

  • GONG QIHUANG

    Born in Putian Fujian Gong Qihuang is an expert in optics. He served as Associate Dean of the School of Physics of Peking University a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Executive Vice Dean of the Graduate School at Peking University. He assumed additional roles as Provost of Peking University in 2018 and became a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Peking University Committee and Executive Vice President of Peking University in 2019. He was appointed President and Deputy Party Chief of Peking University in June 2022.
